How long have you been working at Eclat Engineering?
I started working with Eclat in September of 2019.
What does your job entail?
As business development manager for the Latin America region, my job is to look over all of our business interests in the region. (North, Central, & South America). Everyday is a new challenge, from working with channel partners and prospects to get new sales, training current customers, designing marketing materials in Spanish, translating all of our current offerings, offering customer support and technical support to customers and whatever else the day throws at me.
What do you like most about your job?
Connecting with people from all over the world to work together to solve their research needs. We currently have customers in 11 countries in LATAM, so on any given day I could be working with people in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, India….etc. As the COVID years were a bit light on travel, being able to connect and meet people from all over the world has been a real pleasure to me.
What brought you to Eclat Engineering?
A chance encounter with Jatin and Amit in Mexico in 2019 brought me to this amazing company. I’ve been told I have a case of “helium hands”, as if helium balloons are tied to my hands; anytime an opportunity or need arises and some is needed to help out, my hands instantly go up. After meeting Jatin and Amit we discussed a few things that I could help out with as the company grew in the region, quickly, those few things grew into a lot of things and I became the BDM for LATAM for Eclat Engineering.
What is the best career lesson you´ve learned so far?
Perspective is everything. If you are able to put yourself in someone else’s perspective you can properly assess the situation and look for solutions that benefit everyone involved.
We’ve all had situations where someone brings a “trivial” problem to you, but for them that problem isn’t trivial, it is their reality and something they need resolved. If you can take the time to understand it and help them resolve it, that makes a difference.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
I’m a triathlete and also a new father, so that basically takes up all of my time. Having a daughter has definitely changed my life for the better but we are making a big effort in continuing to do what we like to do and involve her where we can. For example, we’ve started a new weekly tradition of going to the beach every Sunday morning, but instead of just driving to the beach and laying around, I run from the house to the beach, while my wife drives a bit closer and walks my daughter to the beach in her stroller.
What do you like the most about Eclat?
The interconnectedness and freedom in the company. While the majority of my time is spent working with my LATAM colleagues, I have a fair amount of communication with the global team and always feel free to reach out to whoever I need. I’ve heard of other more hierarchical companies where you must reach out to department heads and then get referred to specific people. We do the opposite here, if I need help from a specific support agent, I’ll reach out directly to them and we work to resolve the issue at hand. Being able to do that makes work much more efficient and at the end of the day, our productivity is what is prioritized.
How has the experience been working remotely with the Eclat team?
The remote experience is the only experience that I know, but it has been great. Being flexible, allowing me to reach out to colleagues when needed has made the work enjoyable and also possible. Because of the massive time zone differences we face as a company, working remotely allows us to overcome those challenges and meet the needs of our customers always.
What are your thoughts on the products that Eclat offers?
The best. The logic, the effort and the design are next level. I am constantly surprised by the development team and their ability to identify the needs of library users and how our products not only meet but exceed their expectations.
